Western Maryland Rail Trail

Big Pool Md. through Hancock Md. to Old Pearre Station Md.

*

Review:

     The length of this trail is from Big Pool Md. through Hancock Md. to Old Pearre Station is approximately 22 miles. We gave this trail a Family Friendly Rating of 8 because the grade is less than 1% and the entire length of the trail is paved.

     This trail we would say is excellent for all riders in moderate to good physical shape and is handicapped accessible.

     There are three places, which we know of, that have either bathrooms or Porta Potties along the trail. The first one is at the parking area at Big Pool and the next one is 10 miles up the trail at Hancock and the last one is at the end of the trail at Old Pearre Station.

Trail Surface(s):

     The entire length of this trail is paved.

Scenery:

     The scenery for this trail is mostly wooded. At times it goes along or close to the Potomac River and about 90% of this trail is shaded. This is one of our favorite rides.
