Greetings

     Welcome to River Riders Enola

We are part of the Men’s Ministry of our church. Women are welcome to ride with us but certain guidelines must be followed. Women who ride must be accompanied by their husband, boyfriend, another woman, or children who are able to do the ride.

The following information and schedule is for our 2012 bike rides. There may be rides on Saturdays and during the week that are not on this schedule. Most of the trails we ride are within two hours driving time or 100 miles from Enola Pa.

With only a couple of exceptions all the rides we do are round trip. If you would like to ride but feel that you can not do the mileage that we have planned you can stop and turn around and wait for us to come back.

If you contact me at pdauman@verizon.net I will put you on our e-mail list. About seven to ten days before a ride you will receive a short news letter, with directions to the trail head. Please be at the church 15 to 20 minutes before we are scheduled to leave, or meet us at the trailhead. We will let you know as close as possible what times we expect to be at the trailheads. We leave promptly at the time posted.

If you plan on driving please bring a copy of the directions with you.

For the most part the dates for these rides will not change but the trail we ride may occasionally be changed.

On most of the rides we will not be stopping for breakfast but if on occasion we do you will be notified of the details. We do plan on stopping for lunch or dinner on most of the rides.

If a ride is cancelled we will try to let you know in advance. A ride may be cancelled because of inclement weather or if there is a conflict with a church outreach. We will try and reschedule any cancelled ride.

We have three people who presently have bike racks to transport bikes to the trails but we can not guarantee they all will be going on all of the rides. It would be beneficial for you to have a bike rack or contact someone who has one and make arrangements with them to carry your bike.

As often as possible we will car pool. If you car pool please share the gas and toll expense.

Our rides are for fellowship and enjoyment, not races to see how fast we can get from one place to another.

Bring you camera along. Most of the trails provide a lot of great picture taking opportunities.

You can check out these trails at - www.railstotrails.org .Just select the state the trail is in and look for the trail name on the list. We also have links to most of the trails web sites on our web site under the Reviews page.

There will not be any sign up sheets for these rides. Just let us know if you are coming or show up ready to go. As long as we get at least two or three people we will ride.

4. Spare tube, patch kit
5. Headlight – We will let you know if a light is required on the trail we will be riding.

     Important things to remember:

1.      Be safe and follow trail rules. Some of the trails we ride have a recommended speed limit.

2.      Be prepared. There are no WalMarts along the trails.

3.      Make sure you take bottled water along. On hot days you will go through a lot of water

4.      If you wear long pants use something to keep them from getting tangled up in the chain.

5.      Do not litter the trails. Some of the trails have waste cans at the parking areas and some do not. Please make sure that you don’t leave trash on the trails.

6.      Check your tire pressure. We have tire pumps to help with maintaining tire pressure. We recommend keeping your tires inflated to between 50 and 60 lbs.

7.      If you have any medical conditions that might impair you from riding please check with your doctor before coming along on a ride. In some of the areas we ride cell phones do not work.
