Greetings

The following information is about our 2010 bike rides and the schedule for those rides. There will be rides on Saturdays and during the week that are not on this schedule. Most of the trails are within two hours driving time.

With only a couple of exceptions all the rides we do are round trip. If you would like to ride but feel that you can not do the mileage that we have planned you can stop and turn around and wait for us to come back.

If you are on our e-mail list you will receive the times we will be leaving the church for each scheduled ride. Please be at the church 15 to 20 minutes before we are scheduled to leave, or meet us at the trailhead. We will let you know as close as possible what times we expect to be at the trailheads.

There will not be any sign up sheets for these rides. Just let us know if you are coming or show up ready to go.

On most of the rides we will not be stopping for breakfast. We recommend that you get together with someone who is going on the ride and stop to eat before coming to the church or meeting us at the trailhead. We do plan on stopping for lunch or dinner on most of the rides.

If a ride is cancelled we will try to let you know in advance unless it is because of inclement weather. The only other cancellations would be if there is a conflict with a church outreach.

As long as we get at least two or three people we will ride.

We have three people who presently have bike racks to transport bikes to the trails but we can not guarantee they all will be going on all of the rides so it would be beneficial for you to have a bike rack or contact someone who has one and make arrangements with them to carry your bike.

As often as possible we will car pool. If you car pool please share the gas and toll expense.

Our rides are for fellowship and enjoyment, not races to see how fast we can get from one place to another.

Bring you camera along. Most of the trails provide a lot of great picture taking opportunities.

You can check out these trails at - www.railstotrails.org .Just select the state the trail is in and look for the trail name on the list. We also have links to the trail web sites on our web site under the Reviews page.

We carry enough tools along with us to take care of most problems you may encounter along the trail but here is a list of suggested basic bicycle equipment.
1. Helmet
2. Comfortable saddle
3. Bike lock
4. Spare tube, patch kit
5. Headlight – We will let you know if a light is required on the trail we will be riding.
6. Air pump
7. First aid kit

8. Snacks and water

9. Cell phone

10. Cash and credit cards

If you need a bike or just need to get one tuned up we highly recommend:

Holmes Bicycle Shop

We have been very pleased with the service and knowledge of the people who work there. They have a large inventory on hand and will be glad to help you pick out what you need. They also have a Ride Now Pay Later plan that Trek offers, 90 days same as cash and a lay away plan.

     Important things to remember:

1.      Be safe and follow trail rules. Some of the trails we are going to ride have a recommended speed limit.

2.      Be prepared. There are no WalMarts along the trails.

3.      Make sure you take bottled water along. On hot days you will go through a lot of water

4.      All rides are Co-ed please wear appropriate clothing. If you wear long pants use something to keep them from getting tangled up in the chain.

5.      Do not litter the trails. Some of the trails have waste cans at the parking areas and some do not. Please make sure that you don’t leave trash on the trails.

6.      Check your tire pressure. We have tire pumps to help with maintaining tire pressure. We recommend keeping your tires inflated to between 50 and 60 lbs.

7.      If you have any medical conditions that might impair you from riding please check with your doctor before coming along on a ride. In some of the areas we ride cell phones do not work.
